“It’s completely changed my life from being a constantly fatigued, tired father to someone energetic and always up for a bit of activity.”
38-year-old Fouad has taken control of his Crohn’s disease and transformed his body to become an energetic dad to his children.
Just 19 weeks earlier, Fouad was tired, overweight, and thoroughly ashamed of his appearance.
He’d tried countless weight loss methods and even medication…but it never changed his body composition or gave him the fitness and energy he craved.
Having read rave reviews about Ultimate Performance, he gave it a shot…and the results he’s achieved have been life changing.
With his trainer’s help, he’s taken control of his diet, figured out inflammatory foods that flare up his Crohn’s and taken control of the disease.
And now he’s lost 8kg in less than 20 weeks to transform the way he looks to feel proud every time he looks in the mirror.
With his confidence back, he feels like a completely new persona…and has the energy to run around with his children.
In this Q&A with his trainer, he explains the steps he took at U.P. that have dramatically changed his life…

Why did you join Ultimate Performance?
I joined U.P. because I wanted a comprehensive and personalised approach to my body transformation. I was sick and tired of routine gyms and medications that really didn’t give me the results that I wanted. U.P. has an amazing reputation and glowing recommendations so I thought I would join and give it a try.
What was different about U.P.?
I decided to shift from using fat loss medication because I wanted a more holistic and sustainable approach to my fitness and health. While I’d had results from medications, they didn’t address my overall fitness and the composition of my body. I lost weight but I also lost muscle mass. At Ultimate Performance, there is a holistic approach to nutrition and fitness, and I started to see results almost immediately.
You have Crohn’s disease. How did your trainer account for that with your program?
Having Crohn’s adds a bit of a challenge to my fitness routine, but my trainer helped me to better understand nutrition to help manage it. He taught me which types of foods were inflammatory and which foods were not. He tailored some of the diet components to suit my very specific needs to help further my goals.

How did that education help when it came to preparing your food?
Early on it was a steep learning curve, learning about the different food types, my different macros and reading labels; knowing how to calibrate and balance the different foods that I ate during the day so that I stayed within my daily allowance. So that was a bit of a learning journey, but after a week it became a lot easier. I got into a habit, a routine of preparing my breakfast the night before, and pre-planning my day so I knew exactly what I was going to eat at different times of the day.
That’s good. Did anything surprise you in terms of exercise?
Pull-ups were something I didn’t really think I’d be able to do. I’ve tried many, many, many times before and I’d get stuck on half a pull-up. We never really trained for it specifically; I just grew in strength. Now I can probably do eight or nine pull-ups, which is incredible.
What other changes have you seen since joining U.P.?
Within the first couple of weeks, I started seeing results. My body fat percentage started to drop, and stepping onto the scales every morning, I noticed a bit of a shift and more muscle definition. Gradually, I noticed more and more changes. The fortnightly checkup measurements reinforced that what I was doing and the routine I was on, was working and that helped me persevere and stick to the plan, trusting the process that it would yield the results that I wanted. It’s been four months since I joined, and in that time, I’ve lost a lot of body fat, which is something I didn’t imagine I’d achieve in such a short period. I’ve lost almost six inches off my waist, so I’ve dropped a couple of sizes and clothing as well. It’s been quite significant.

That’s amazing, well done. How has your training program helped in your life outside the gym?
Outside the gym, I feel stronger and less fatigued. I can play with my kids without getting out of breath. It’s completely changed my life from feeling constantly fatigued to being a father who is energetic and always up for a bit of activity.
Before joining U.P. you had bad sleeping patterns. How did your trainer help with this?
Primarily it was all about education. Learning about the impact that sleep has, not only on my fatigue levels, but more so on my recovery, and how it would impact everything, my fitness and performance. So that education along with constant checking in, helped a lot with tailoring my workout schedule as well so that I went to bed at a reasonable time, woke up at a reasonable time, and had enough quality sleep to further help me achieve my goals.
How do you feel now when you look in the mirror?
The feeling is incredible. I still don’t believe it until I see it. When I look at myself in the mirror, I see a whole new person. I now have a sense of pride. A lot of hard work went into my transformation, and now I get to enjoy it. I don’t have to feel ashamed of the way I look anymore. It feels great to try new clothes and walk around with a greater sense of pride in the way you look. As my body has changed, I’ve become more confident to try on different types of clothes, in smaller sizes.
But I think it goes beyond the aesthetic look of being leaner and looking better. U.P. has helped me a lot with my confidence and my mental health. It’s been a complete transformation for me mentally, physically, and confidence-wise. It’s just helped me immensely.
